breezeshadow: It's a wolverine, hey! (Default)
TW for hints at suicidal thoughts, PTSD )

Just a little Andy story. I was trying to think of who to use for the prompt "wounds" ([community profile] origfic_bingo), and sadly it took me a while to remember Andy instead of Tegre or Gareth.

Will fit it out a bit more. I just have focused on two works in October and wanted to get a third in as something to share.

breezeshadow: WTF TIMES ICON (WTFCat)
TW for graphic injuries, casual mention of rape, murder, etc. )

Inspired by [community profile] dailyprompt's we've been given a second chance" prompt. I have some idea of where it's going, but will have to stew on it.

I blame your writing, [personal profile] raze ;)

breezeshadow: TEA TIMES ICON (ALLtheTea)
Based on [community profile] dailyprompt's prompt "I think it's broken"

TW for realities of war, basically )

Athanaric, formerly Perduellis, is the most powerful lightning mage in the world, and a pile of issues.

Speaking of prompts, I put one up at [community profile] dailyprompt today. You can tell I'm back into Pokemon Fusion, but maybe it'll spark something in you guys :)

Also in a month or so I should have some exciting news to share about work. Teaser: I am getting a promotion and raise. Details aren't all nailed out though, so we'll see!

To help assuage my guilt over joining [community profile] dailyprompt as a mod and then leaving DW, I've posted a prompt over yonder. Check it out here; my prompts tend to be very abstract but if it suits your fancy, feel free to share it!

Now for more general updates: we didn't have a nature tour of the reserve, so I'm afraid that I did not take many photos and am not sure any of them are really "pretty" enough to show you. THe reserve is basically being rebuilt into a marsh after being transformed into salt lakes and coated in glass waste in years past. Our job was to plant native seedlings along the shores to bring the marshlands back. Eventually the hope is to have almost all of it converted back to marsh with a nature trail and a boat launch for canoes and such.

It's horrifying how much glass people uncovered. Also you know those black fabric blanket things they put over grass sometimes? Yeah, uh, I uncovered the remains of one of them. Now there are seedlings where it used to be, which I think is more appropriate.

But oh do I ache. I have poor joints and these past few days the weather has pissed them off. I hoped going out and doing some activity would help stretch them out and ease the aching, but no, it just made it worse. My elbows hurt. My shoulders hurt. My wrists hurt. The bottom palms of my hand hurt. I was hoping to clean ALL THE THINGS today and I'm not sure I can be nearly as ambitious as I hoped.

But whatever, I got to wield a PICK-AX.

Let me know if you want to see photos. I'll try to post some writing again later today since I'm keeping up a good pace and don't want to lose it.
breezeshadow: Is it not adorable? (PumaKitten)
DW yesterday gave me a triple-whammy reminder of why sometimes it is REALLY bad for my mental health, but I giggled at YouTube videos and felt better, and so I'll try to make a post.

1) I am feeling much better post-ER adventure. Some chest pain here and there, but now that I know what it is, I try not to stress about it.

2) Work started up a free yoga class at our office gym. I really like the instructor's style since it incorporates mindfulness. It also beat the CRAP out of me. I've been sore all day, man. If this doesn't build up my strength, nothing will.

3) I seem to be slowly coming out of my disinterest in food phase.

4) 3-day weekend

5) The prompt for this is actually this video:

(PS: This blogger is what had me giggling and made me feel better. She rocks)

I wasn't planning to have the tea reader to be a fundamentalist )

I'll finish it eventually.

A torrential downpour soaked him to the bone as he slipped down the Rezten streets, boots sloshing through neverending puddles. Despite the dismal weather, the streets were packed, and so the flood rippled like the ocean waves, soaking him nearly up to his knees. Over the crowds, he could see people huddled in the alleyways, old cloth of whatever they could find wrapped around their bodies, hollow hungry eyes watching and waiting for an opportunity.

His pockets felt achingly empty seeing them, though that could also be because Tegre had little money to spare. Kader had her business to keep running, otherwise they would be joining the unfortunate in their alleyways. Yet during the rainy winters, he felt like they made money for the business only to funnel that money into keeping it going, with barely enough to feed themselves. And thus, he ghosted the streets, on the hunt for work.

He was not entirely sure what he looked for – usually he hovered around Kader and watched what she did, and she had been very suspicious when he requested to head out alone. Yet she had allowed it, and so there he was, splashing through the shallow streams that Rezten had turned into, looking for something, anything he could do.

It would help if he had more talents, but years of depression had left him utterly useless.

Now to get to work or something.

Warning: Basically all of these stories are a trigger warning for violence, pain, suffering, etc. Please ask if you want specifics on individual stories.

Title: The Stove
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Meander and Rose May
Status: Complete but rough
Rating: PG-13 for disturbing imagery
Summary: Some things, you just cannot forget or get past. Some things come back to haunt you...
Prompt: [community profile] hc_bingo Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
Author's Notes: I haven't worked with Meander in ages; it was fun to get into his head again.

Why are the dreams I write so bizarre? )

Title: Surrogate Grove
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Dryads
Status: Complete but rough
Rating: PG-13 for disturbing imagery, violence, slavery, general awful
Summary: When you have no hope left, sometimes being alive is the last step forward.
Prompt: [community profile] hc_bingo Slaves
Author's Notes: I couldn't figure out who would enslave what in my world, and then this happened.

The stories just get more depressing from here. )

Title: For One's Land (Title Pending)
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Demons and mountain faeries
Status: Complete but rough
Rating: PG-13 for graphic violence, general awful
Summary: In a land where prey is scarce and predators are fierce, sometimes all that comes in the night is tragedy
Prompt: [community profile] hc_bingo Bites
Author's Notes: First time trying third-person omnipresent in a LONG time. Also you all have [personal profile] raze to thank for this.

Also first time I've written a legit fight in ages. )

Just need to finish the Gareth story and figure out a wild card story, now. Also sorry these are so rough and bad; I just want to get these in, and I'm very tired from insomnia.

Despite the fact that I posted a story two days ago, my brain is convinced that I am slacking, playing too much Sims, and need to post something RIGHT NOW.

So here, have something I wrote yesterday.

Title: Sharing
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Tegre, Eilis, Kader, & Conan
Status: Complete, spellchecked, briefly reviewed
Rating: PG-13 because Kader XD
Summary: It's a cold winter's day, and this household is spending it with a contagious illness.
Prompt: [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo Person & loved one(s) injured/sick simultaneously
Author's Notes: I'm really starting to like Eilis as a character, and I made her in the Sims and got a better idea of how she looks (she's gorgeous in a "I pretty myself up in a way you couldn't do in a week" way. It makes her that much more frightening). Also this was a great way to establish how this household functions. Also it's almost sickeningly "d'awww". Enjoy?

TW for stomach flu, mention of vomit, a toddler, and the most adorable three-person relationship ever )
breezeshadow: AWESOME TIMES ICON (DuckyWEEEEE)
Title: Night of the Moon
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Nur & Co.
Status: Complete, spellchecked, briefly reviewed
Rating: PG-13 due to some minor violence and possibly unsettling topics. Also booze, basically.
Summary: It is the longest night of the year, and the vampires have a way to celebrate...
Prompt: [community profile] cottoncandy_bingo Caressing/Petting/Stroking, Party, Bruise, Person & loved one(s) injured/sick simultaneously, Cuddlepile
Author's Notes: This gave me a great opportunity to develop vampire culture, figure out what their lives without humans are like, and also develop Nur's backstory to the point that I feel awful for what I do to her later. Enjoy!

This story is >5K words long. No TW that I can think of, but some mentions of violence, pregnancy, and birth defects )
breezeshadow: Is it not adorable? (PumaKitten)
Bad brain spell, tonight. So I inked the drawing for my friend, loaded up Sims, and typed this up on my iPad:

TW for disturbing imagery, war imagery, and uh, loss of limb? )

The _____ is for the name of the doctor, which I have forgotten and will look up later. Obviously, this scene is not finished yet since there isn't much comfort in there, but I imagine it will be pretty short.

Now to sleep.

breezeshadow: Is it not adorable? (PumaKitten)
Trigger for depression )

To try and get rid of this shit, I bring you one of my characters having a more miserable time than I am:

TW for mention of sexual assault. Kader makes most people's lives look pleasant. Except maybe Trent's )

I hope if I keep writing this I can give Kader all of my emo and then get over myself. If only it worked that way, hm?

breezeshadow: WRITING TIMES ICON (BellaGUC)
Title: N/A
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Greta
Status: Complete but VERY rough
Rating: M for implications of violence and due to trigger warning: suicide and domestic violence
Summary: Under the stars in the dying winter, face the moment...
Prompt: Nothing left
Author's Notes: I don't think I really wrote the emotion of this well so I'll have to go back and try later. Also this contains spoilers for my novel. And makes me really sad. :(

Under the stars... )

Sep. 26th, 2011 05:14 pm
breezeshadow: WRITING TIMES ICON (BellaGUC)
Title: Salve
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Nur <3
Status: Complete, but very rough
Rating: PG for ridiculous
Summary: Pets are good for your mental health. Even if you're a vampire and she's a chicken.
Prompt: Chicken
Author's Notes: This is ridiculous. xD

Glaring Contests! )

The Ghosts

Aug. 16th, 2011 11:57 pm
breezeshadow: WRITING TIMES ICON (BellaGUC)
Title: The Ghosts [pending something better]
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Tegre
Status: Complete but likely still rough
Rating: R for this one. You'll see why.
Summary: In the darkness of your mind, what will you find? What ghosts are following you?
Prompt: "walking with ghosts"
Author's Notes: Next time I say "Oh I can't write creepy imagery that easily!", smack me upside the head. Because this is... Yep. Kind of an experiment to see what I could do. Fun times!

Maggots. Lots of them. )
breezeshadow: WRITING TIMES ICON (BellaGUC)
Title: The Doctor's Note [pending, I swore I had something better...]
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Kader, Tegre
Status: Complete and mostly looked over
Rating: PG-13, because oh god some of the imagery. Also it's Kader talking, we know there are F-bombs.
Summary: When your world explodes, can you find your purpose? AKA "Another Invasion Story"
Prompt: "stand up and be counted"
Author's Notes: I lost track of where I was going with this. Whoops? Also cross-posted here: Click!

This stupid invasion, man, it sucks )
breezeshadow: WRITING TIMES ICON (BellaGUC)
Title: Pending
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Gareth, Andy
Status: Complete but very rough, likely typos everywhere
Rating: PG-13, just in case
Summary: In running from yourself, you may just run into others.
Prompt: "Run"

This was supposed to be depressing )
breezeshadow: AWESOME TIMES ICON (DuckyWEEEEE)
Title: Dreamcatcher [Pending?]
Genre: Fantasy
The Troops: Alden, Bertram
Status: Complete but very rough, likely typos everywhere
Rating: PG-13, just in case. Also if you don't like gay couples, well, this isn't for you.
Summary: Sometimes you lose trust in others, when you can't find trust in yourself.
Prompt: "The worst thing is the insomnia"

It ends with an -ol and causes misery )
